This post is a dash of a history lesson, a little bit personal, and a whole lot of our mission here at Bells Box Collective and what has led us to create candles that make your space feel pretty and clean your while preserving your well-being, especially women's reproductive health.
🕯️ The Dark Side of Fragrance 🕯️
For centuries, candles have symbolized warmth, celebration, and relaxation. Yet, beneath the allure of these scented marvels lay a far from delightful secret – a concoction of hazardous ingredients concealed behind the enigmatic label "fragrance." In times gone by, candles often harbored synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, and other chemicals that may appear innocuous but carry a plethora of health risks.

Our journey here at Bells Box Collective to clean candles and goods began as a profoundly personal one. While I was starting my business, I was also dealing with infertility for 5 years. As Jason and I navigated this emotional terrain, we began to unearth the startling truth about everyday products and their potential impact on women's reproductive health. One thing that stood out to me during this season was the candles that I so dearly loved could very well be the culprit of what was causing my body to not work the way it was supposed to.
🚫 The Toxins We Reject 🚫
You see, many of the synthetic fragrances and chemicals found in traditional candles have been linked to hormonal imbalances, endocrine disorders, and, yes, even reproductive challenges. When I found this out, I just knew that we couldn't offer products that had these chemicals and toxins in them - not only for my health but for the health of my community!! That's why we said a resounding "NO" to:
🚫 Phthalates: These elusive chemicals, often lurking in fragrances, were banned from our production process.
🌱 Parabens: Known to disrupt hormonal balance, these are unequivocally excluded from our products. (yes...even "food grade" parabens...wont be found in our products)
🔥 Lead and Cotton Wicks: We opted for all natural crackling wooden wicks that guarantee a clean, safe burn.
