Ahhh yall. I am having a serious moment over here with all of our DIY fashion accessories! They are pretty much famous!
Let Me Back Up A Second!
Last year, fueled by one too many mimosas, I applied to NBC’s Making It for Season 2! And you guys…I MADE IT TO THE FINAL ROUND! While I was waiting to hear back to see if I made the show, I started to prepare myself for what it would be like if I was to go to California to craft for a month!
I thought that this would be my dream….I would get to have unlimited access to ALL the crafty things that I could ever scheme up! And I would get to hang out with Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman!

Then reality Set In…
But then I started to get nervous. A month was a LONG time to be away from my sweet husband and animals. Not to mention the studio!
Could I handle it?
I was seriously waking up in the middle of the night in
All the craftyness!
When I wasn’t in a tissy about how I would handle myself on tv, I was in full craft mode. I knew that if this was in the cards for me, I would be up against some serious craft talent. I was going to need to know how to handle ALL sorts of different elements. From season one, I knew that I needed to be proficient in paper crafts, fiber, clay and just about everything else that I could imagine!
Over the next 3 months…
I set out to do all the things. And I loved it! Every week, I tackled a different craft. I felt so connected with a side of me that honestly had gotten pushed aside for a little bit while I have been in business building mode.
When I found out that I didn’t make the cut, I was a little sad! Although I kind of knew that I had just saved myself from a potential cat realated breakdown on National TV!
And more than that, I knew that the opportunity to even be considered for the show had done something incredible for me.
All of a sudden, my confidence was back…
It had given me the confidence boost that I needed to not be afraid of putting myself out there. You see, all this time, I had been thinking some major thoughts of self doubt about my abilities.
Would anyone care about my DIY studio and what I want to teach and share with my community!? Why did I think that I was good enough to teach others? Was what I was making quality enough?
The negative thoughts were rampant and it was putting a serious cramp in my usually bubbly outlook on life!
Well thanks to that call one day from NBC and the chance to tell my crafty little story. I was back!
So what now?
Since then I have thought alot about next steps. I had put a lot of energy into how I want my business to grow. I knew that if I was on a national platform, I would have to fast track a few of the items that are on my business wish list. And I needed to really think about what it would be like to be filmed on TV. ALL THE TIME. You might not know this about me but I tend to be a *TAD* excitable so this was something that I knew I had to work on.
I just had to something with all this practice for being on tv!!
Watch out world…here I come!
So I applied to be on our local station of NBC, knowing that it would be a short segment (and I wouldn’t have to worry about crying about pets lol) and pitched them our segment on our tassel earrings. Within a few minutes, I had an email back and was scheduled to appear!
And you guys…it was so much fun! You can check out our DIY tassel tutorial here!

I managed to do the segment without word vomiting (or actually vomiting for that matter!) no shaky hands, and I got everything that I wanted to get out without sounding silly! You can watch it here!
A few days later, I woke up to an email from Good Day Charlotte (another local station) telling me how much they loved the Story of Bells Box Collective and that they wanted to feature us for ANOTHER one of our DIY accessories…our Pom Pom earrings!
YES YES and YES!
I couldn’t believe it! You know how much I love our Pom Pom earrings so I was pretty much in heaven!
So tomorrow, be on the lookout for me on Good Day Charlotte and tune in to see how to make our locally famous Pom Pom earrings!!
There is more!
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for some more big moves from our sweet little studio because I have some exciting plans and I am walking into this season of my business invigorated and excited for what all is to come!
Cheers and let’s be inspired!
